Our Work
Together, we’re building a movement that ensures transportation access and equity for every person in Maine.
Our Role
We focus on improving transportation access for people who can’t drive and those who struggle to afford transportation – including older adults, people with disabilities, people with low incomes, and youth. We offer a forum for learning, networking, and advocacy for individuals and organizations across Maine.

Key Issues
Many Mainers face significant barriers to transportation access. To ensure that every community has affordable, accessible, & diverse transportation, the Moving Maine Network frames transportation barriers as opportunities, focusing on 3 key issues:
Rides to Opportunity & Community
We support transportation solutions that ensure equitable access to a high quality of life – including social connections, employment, education, health care, and more. We grow the capacity of communities and stakeholders to develop solutions specific to their context and barriers. We encourage collaborative decision-making and assist in coordinating across communities, regions and the state.
Safe, Accessible Streets & Roads
We elevate the voices of those who roll, walk, and bike to ensure advocacy around active transportation is advancing safe, accessible, welcoming, and sustainable options in our communities with an emphasis on those who experience barriers and vulnerability.
Robust Policies & Practices to Support Equitable Access to Mobility
We support and advocate for strong, effective policies and practices that center equity while addressing the affordability, accessibility, and sustainability of transportation in all Maine contexts, whether local, regional, or statewide.
